ART ONE FINAL
1. Which project was your favorite or most successful this semester? Please explain.
The stencil portrait was my favorite project we did this semester. It allowed us to be creative and expierement with colors. I thought the process was really cool. I didn't know photoshop could be used for anything besides editing pictures. I really liked the mixture of technology and art in this project. The way we traced the projectors to trace the stencils was genius. Never would I have thought to use the projectors like that. Using the spray paint was cool too. Not many classes would allow you to use spray paint, so this was really cool. I really like the way my stencil turned out. It's imperfections make it perfect. I messed up the eye stencil on this project; which is why one of my eyes is higher than the other; and I think that looks really cool. I also really like the contrast of the light blue background and orange face. Orange and blue are complementary colors. If I could have done one thing different, I would have fixed the gap between the hairline and face. This project was my favorite and I really enjoyed the process as well as the outcome.2. Regardless of whether you liked or disliked a project, which one did you learn, grow, or developed the most from? Please explain.
I learned the most from the cartoon skeleton project. This was the first real project we did in Art 1. Before this project, I had never attempted to actually draw something this detailed. I thought for sure that this drawing would come out horrible, but it didn't. I really like the creative ability that came along with this project. Nobody knows what a cartoon character's skeleton looks like, so we had full creative liscense with this project. I chose to do Mojojojo from the powerpuff girls. I had never traced anything with tracing paper, so this was a new expierience. Through this project I gained confidence in my art work. I had no idea I could draw anything near this good. I also learned to pay more attention to detail. Before this project, there is no way I would have drawn each and every individual bone, I would have drawn them all together. I really enjoyed this project and learned a lot from it. I gained confidence in my drawing ability, learned to be creative, and learned to pay attention to detail.
3. Choose 1 piece of Art that you used skills and techniques learned from previous projects. Discuss your growth as an artist and how you incorporated these skills and techniques to create the piece.
I used skills and techniques learned from previous projects while doing the print project. The first step in this project was drawing the actual stencil. I used the skills I acquired from the drawing unit. As I explained in the previous question, I really learned a lot in that unit. After we traced that on a linoleum square, we carved the print into it. I used the carving skills acquired in the stencil portrait project while doing this. Then we rolled ink onto the linoleum using a brayer (like my vocabulary?). I had to pay attention to detail when doing this. Without learning from the previous units, my print would have turned out much worse.
4. Which project do you feel was the least important in learning the concepts taught in this course? Please explain.
